Special attention in the Institute is given to the development and perfection of educational work. Its overall objective is the comprehensive development of the personality of a future competitive professional who is socially active and a well-rounded member of society.

The organization and the contents of the educational process are determined by the requirements of Qualifying Characteristics of Specializations of Social Pedagogue and Social Worker. Student activities are aimed at humanization of its contents, formation of volunteer qualities, development of the quality of mercy for others, legal education, orientation to universal values, prevention of negative behavior, and transfer of healthy living skills. These aims are achieved within the framework of the scientific concept of the formation of the professional, personal and moral qualities of the future experts in the social sphere during the educational process and during extracurricular time. The Student's Council and The Trade-Union Bureau both function in the Institute as bodies of students� self-governance. Student representatives take an active part in national student symposiums, scientific conferences and seminars, in particular, in the national program Step to the Future, in the national festivals of Children�s and Youth�s Social Initiatives organization, and seminars named Student's Public Associations as Subjects of Youth Policy, which are organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Department of Youth Policy of the Moscow Humanitarian Social Academy. Based on the results of their work, students receive certificates in recognition of their achievements.

Voluntary participation in specific programs, actions and work of student�s public associations in the institute has great value for the professional and personal formation of the future experts in the social sphere. Such activity considerably influences the development of students� creative attitude to work, their communicative and organizing abilities. Among the most popular social - pedagogical projects are Yes, please! No, thanks.; Children on the Side of the Road; and The Healthy Future. Student activists participate in training seminars focused on development of self-government, creative activity and qualities of a leader.  

Faculty, students and post-graduate students of the Institute of Social Work actively participate in the cultural life of the university. One of the important directions of the educational work of the Institute is the formation of its own traditions like celebration of Day of Knowledge, initiation into the Institute as a student, graduation parties, and celebrations of professional holidays.  

During the carrying out of regional action Children - orphans. SOS! in Tambov, students organized  a book exhibition.   A review of the literature on a specific subject was presented. Students presented gifts to Inzhavino Boarding School and Tambov Children's Home.
